On their wedding day, August 6th 1881, Charles Sloan gives his
address as 15 Peabody Street
A search for the Census Return completed on 3 April 1881 for 15 Peabody Street shows that a William Worsley lived there with his wife and 5 children - but no mention of a Charles Sloan.
However a search of the 1881 England Census for a Charles Sloan with birthplace Ireland produces 1 result:
A Charles Sloan aged 21, described as a lodger at the home of Daniel Egan at 15 Dudley Street, Barton-Upon-Irwell, Lancashire.
The occupation of both Charles Sloan and Daniel Egan were given as “Labourer at Magnesium Wks”.
My next step was to see if I could trace the parents of our Great grandfather, Charles Sloan. From his marriage certificate we know his father was called James Sloan with an occupation cab proprietor. If we can find the baptism record of Charles Sloan we should be able to find out his mother’s name.
