Grandparents Marriage

On St Patrick’s Day, Monday 17 March 1902, our grandparents Robert Sloan aged 20 and Bella Conlon aged 17, were married in St. Peter’s Church, Derby Street, Belfast.

The marriage certificate gives Robert’s address as 11 Crane Court, Belfast and his job as car driver.

His father Charles is also a car driver.

Bella’s home address is 32 Milford Street, Belfast.

Her father Owen Conlon is deceased; his job had been a slater.

The witnesses are Bernard O’Reilly and Sarah Conlon.

Knowing the home addresses of Robert Alexander Sloan and Bella Conlon from the marriage certificate I was able to find the 1901 Census Returns completed by their parents the year before.

The 1901 Census was completed by each Head of Household on Sunday 31 March 1901.
