Welcome to this website which I want to use to share my findings on tracing the Sloan family tree.  This is an ongoing process and I hope to update the website as further information is obtained.  The website was last updated on 18 April 2006 with a new set of photos on page 7.

I have discovered that tracing and identifying ancestors becomes more difficult the further back in time you go and often there is either not enough evidence or contradictory evidence which prevents proving something conclusively. I have therefore decided to set out in some detail the steps taken in my research and allow people to draw their own conclusions. I would like to hear from anyone who has any information which supports or disproves anything detailed on this website.

 

My dad’s name is Charles Sloan and he was born in 1918. His father’s name is Robert Alexander Sloan and his mother’s maiden name is Isabella Conlon.

 

I am grateful to my brother Brian who provided me with the starting point for this family history search - the marriage certificate of our grandparents Robert Alexander Sloan and Bella Conlon.
